While it is still early evening of December 31st in Sweden, hours and hours ago, fireworks showered over Sydney's iconic Harbor Bridge as a million onlookers cheered the dawning of New Year 2007.
 As the clock strikes twelve tonight, people all over the world will cheer and wish each other a very Happy New Year. For some this event is no more than a change of a calendar. For others the New Year symbolises the beginning of a better tomorrow, so with that thought here's wishing everyone a Very Happy and Prosperous New Year.

I am from Adelaide (which is much better than Sydney in my completely unbiased, objective opinion!) and I loved NYE Down-Under when it was still 30C at midnight and we could sit on the sandy beach at Glenelg, sipping ice-cold giggle water and watching the fireworks blast over the sea. We don't have fireworks available to the general public like they do here in Sweden. That was banned when I was a kid because of too many kids losing eyes, fingers etc. Plus the very real bushfire risk. So instead we have big firework displays like you get for say the Stockholm Water Festival. It's always wonderful. I was in Sydney for the turn of the century NYE in 2000 and it was fabulous. I recommend a trip there especially for New Year - the atmosphere is wonderful.
